Horse Studios is located at Rocky Bottom Ranch outside of Dripping
Springs, Texas. Clay artist Melodie Greider has been living, riding,
hiking, swimming and small scale ranching in the incomparable Hill
Country for 25 years. Her intimate knowledge of the land translates
into lively murals and tiles, the personality and spirit of the
hills and their inhabitants evident in every hand shaped and carved
piece.
Melodie graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors
in Fine Arts in 1980 and promptly went into business. She created
a successful line of individually designed and produced dinner ware
before turning her attention to tiles and murals. She is a member
of the Artists of Dripping Springs and the local Chamber of Commerce.
Having suffered from equine dementia all her life, Melodie will
attempt any activity related to horses. With her ranch hands, Roy
(15) and Jordy (12) she is active in the local 4H horse club. Together
with Paco, the wonderfully versatile Morgan, and Rooster, the bone-headed
Appaloosa, they attend trail rides, play days, and cattle drives
as often as possible and not nearly enough.
Studio and Ranch Security is managed by Buddy Beagle with back up
from Rex, Caymend, Tiny and Crickette. Mouse patrol at the barn
is provided by Mit Kitty. Studio breakage and general aggravation
is handled by the Itty Bitty Kitty, who is exceptionally good at
it.
All of the above is benevolently sponsored by Ben, without whom
none of it would be possible. Never a dull moment in 25 years. Thanks.
Happy Trails, Y'all!
